Gustavo had a smashing debut with the Academy on May 18 by scoring a three-goal hat trick against the Morristown Colonials. He scored nine goals and provided three assists in the Academy's 11 games during the 2008 season.

The Carle Place resident studied at Mineola High School, where he received All-County, All-State and All-Regional honors with the boys soccer team. He now attends Molloy College in Rockville Centre. Gustavo is very proud of the fact that he's Brazilian.
