![]() Head Coach Adrian Gaitan "Adrian is a top-class coach. He understands the technical tactical and man management part of coaching," Academy FC Director of Football Paul Riley commented. "He has a brilliant soccer mind and I am excited to have such a fantastic coach on board for our second year. We are excited about the future of our men's team and we hope Adrian can take the Long Island Academy to the promised land." Adrian and Paul Riley were signed as the first two members of the Long Island Rough Riders. Adrian starred for Teddy's troops for four years, winning the national championship in 1995. On that national championship side was goalkeeper Tony Meola, who was teammates with Adrian on the Oceanside Navahoes and U.S. National Youth Team. The Oceanside resident then got into coaching, winning the division in the A-League coaching the Staten Island Vipers for three years in the early 1990s. Adrian also became the Director of Coaching for the Oceanside Soccer Club.His Oceanside Express team won one State Cup and one Regional championship. His other Oceanside Express team, which eventually became the Albertson Express, won five State Cups and one Regional title. Adrian coached Express players Christina DiMartino, Ali Long and Brittany Taylor, who have all played for the USA in international competition. Adrian also assisted Riley coaching the Rough Riders to the 2002 national championship. Besides coaching the Long Island Academy, Adrian coached Boys Under 16 Albertson Academy to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy finals in 2008.
