Despite Playing a Man Down for 77 Minutes, the Academy Ties Atlantic City
June 10, 2007-Despite playing the last 77 minutes of the match a man short, the Long Island Academy played the Atlantic City Diablos to a scoreless tie on the Jersey shore tonight. The 0-0 stalemate comes a week after both teams played to a scoreless tie on Long Island.
The Long Island Academy's record is now 1-0-2 while first place Atlantic City is 2-0-2.
The Academy has not surrendered a goal during the three games of its brief existence. Keeper Billy Gatti of Baldwin made five saves tonight.
Academy defender Karim Diallo was sent off in the 13th minute for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. The whole team stepped up, especially Player of the Match Adam Bruh of East Williston and tonight's top defender, Hempstead's Arman Osooli.
"We played a lot better than the last time we played Atlantic City. If we keep training as we have done, we'll be great!" commented Academy head coach Paul Riley.
The Academy's next home match will be Friday night, June 15 at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. The Academy take on the Boston Aztecs in the nightcap at 7:45 pm while their women's team, the Long Island Fury, play the Connecticut Reds at 5:30 pm.
