It's Academic! Long Island Academy Wins in Boston, 4-0

June 18, 2008-The Long Island Academy shut out the Boston Aztecs, 4-0, in a National Premier Soccer League match in Boston tonight. The Academy improve to 5-0-1 on the season while Boston is now 3-2-0 as their two defeats have come at the feet of the Academy.

"By far, a complete performance tonight," commented Academy head coach Adrian Gaitan, "We were brilliant right from the start. We gave a clinic tonight."

Gustavo Dias scored the first two goals of the game. In the 13th minute, he ran on to a Keith Detelj cross and scored from 12 yards while his 33rd minute tally was on a breakaway.

Two minutes later, Dias turned provider as he crossed the ball on a counterattack to Detelj who buried the ball from inside the goal area.

The 84th minute insurance goal was on a 40-yard free kick from Renier J.R. Mena that was redirected and resulted in a goal for Stefan Dimitron.

Long Island goalkeeper Billy Gatti made three saves for the shutout.

"The Aztecs played better than us the first time we met (on June 3) yet we won, 2-1. But we were all over them tonight," concluded Coach Gaitan.

The Academy return home this Friday night, June 20 for a 7:30 pm kick-off against the 2-1-1 New York Athletic Club at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point. This is the first-ever meeting between these two local teams.
